Dental Implant Placement & Restoration

a dental implant

Dental implants, or titanium root replacements, are a wonderful way to replace missing teeth under many conditions. (Such things as your overall health and the length of time you have been missing your teeth must be considered.)

The replacement of missing teeth using dental implants can sometimes require “bone grafting”. The bone grafting process can take 3-4 months to complete but it allows implants to be placed in areas where insufficient bone is currently present. The process allows insufficient bone to be built-up in width and density to accept and stabilize an implant. After your dentist does a thorough examination, which may include a 3D x-ray of the area, a treatment plan for implant(s) placement takes place.

Most treatment can be done here at Eagle Rock Dental Care however; some cases may be referred to a specialist, a periodontist or an oral surgeon, who will place the implant(s) into the site. When healing is complete, usually after 3-6 months, we will place the crown or bridge segment on top of the healed implant(s). Some dentists are trained to place the surgical part of the implant as well as the prosthetic/tooth part. We can help you determine which implant option is right for you!

Here's How It Works

Implants are great way to replace a single missing tooth with the final product looking just like a normal tooth to match your other teeth. These types of implants and crowns look and feel natural. They also function as a normal tooth would in the mouth and the ADA has statistics of longevity being 10 to 25 years and more!

Implants can also be used to replace many or all missing teeth. Implants can be used to hold a bridge or even dentures. If you have multiple missing teeth and you are using a partial denture, implants can replace that partial denture and allow you to have a permanent restoration; instead of one you take out every night and put back in the morning.

Also, if you have a pair of complete dentures on top and/or bottom, implants can be used to better retain the dentures in your mouth. No more floppy dentures when you eat or talk. With multiple implants, the dentures can be stable! Many of the foods that were hard to eat previously become enjoyable once again!
